This weekend the lovely Vinci will host the magical Festival of the Unicorn.
A bit about the festival
The festival is the most important fantasy medieval festival in Italy. It transforms Vinci into a ideally surreal city, divided into five thematics areas.
There is the children’s area, the adults’ area, but also the cosplay area, the comics area and the Fantasy area. Every one can enjoy this particular festival. In addition there are several street performers, magical shows, special contests and much more.
Cosplay lovers can participate to the contest for the best Fantasy or traditional dressed. For children there is a large area inspired to pirates with a treasure hunt. In the Comics are workshops and meetings with famous drawers.
The program
Enchanted fortress
This is the area dedicated to Cospaly and is located in Piazza del Castello and via Roma. Main events are the jugglers’ show, blades and fire shows, the contest for the best Fantasy creature and the concert of Jig Rig.
Dreams’ court
This area is dedicated to Fantasy and is located in Piazza dei Guidi and via Uzielli. Main shows are jugglers, the moon dance, the elf’ wedding and parade.
Pirates Bahia
This is the children’s area and is located in via Fucini. There is a treasure hunt as well as pirates’ games.
Knights’ city
It is dedicated to adults and is located inside the woods of Doccia, via Montalbano and Piazza Leonardo da Vinci. Here you can see a medieval military camp, how the Inquisition worked, as well as falconry show and magician show.
Comics and crazy things
This is the area dedicated to Comics and is located in Piazza della Libertà and via Giovanni XXIII. Nathan Never exhibit, Dragonero authors, Cospaly and classical games, Disney songs.
Details
The Unicorn Festival goes on from July 27th to 29th. The single ticket costs 8 euro per person and 5 euro for costumed visitors. Children under 10 years old are free. For two days the ticket is 10 euro. Until Thursday you can buy discounted tickets online here.
