Happy Easter
This weekend we celebrate Easter and in Tuscany there will be lots of events.
On Friday there will be several celebrations commemorating the Passion of Christ and the Way of the Cross. One of the most famous and suggestive is the Via Crucis in Grassina, a small village near Florence. 500 figures in costumer will reenact the way of the cross. It starts at 9 pm and the entrance is on payment. In Casole d’Elsa at 9.30 pm in the city center will take place the Historical Reenactment of the Good Friday with several figures in costume.
There will take place also several antiques markets lasting over the entire weekend, from Friday to Monday, in Piazza Grande in Arezzo, in the beautiful center of Pitigliano and at Orbetello. Just on Monday there will be the antiques and collectibles markets in the medieval San Gimignano, in Greve in Chianti and in Scarperia in Mugello, together with the flowers’ market.
On Easter morning don’t miss the Explosion of the Cart in Piazza Duomo, in Florence center. In Prato there will be the famous Exposition of the Virgin’s Girdle when the holy relic is exposed from the Duomo.
Most of the museums in Florence will be open. I suggest you look at the list of Florence museums open on Easter. Even restaurants will be open, while shops could be closed because of a local strike.
