Another busy weekend in Tuscany with lots and lots of events. Let’s have a look!
Medieval Festivals and Historical Re-Enactments
This is the second and last weekend of the Medieval Festival of Monteriggioni, that brings you back to the Middle Ages with lots of live performances. In Certaldo started yesterday the incredible Mercantia, street performers’ festival that turns the city into a surreal world of entertainment with more than 100 events every day. In Capoliveri on Saturday night the Lover’s beach lights up with 1000 torches to commemorate the tragic love story of Maria and Lorenzo. In Suvereto there Suberetum, a nice medieval festival with jugglers, musicians, figures in costume and several events. Arezzo goes back to the Roman Age with Civitas Arretium to discover its ancient past with gladiators fighting and other historical re-enactment.
Markets
In Forte dei Marmi there will be a large antiques market both on Saturday and Sunday, as well as in the center of Lucca with more than 200 exhibitors. In Piazza del Mercato in Siena there will be the Collectors’ corner with antiques and collectibles on Sunday. In Pontremoli there will be the arts & crafts market.
Food Festivals
In Cerreto Guidi there is Medicea, wine’s market where every night you can have wine tastings and local food. On Saturday you can try the trippa butese, a special recipe from Buti near Pisa, while for the entire weekend in Sticciano Scalo near Roccastrada in Maremma, there is the Strozzapreti Festival, local handmade pasta.
