Palazzo Strozzi: A Place to Live

Palazzo Strozzi

Last week I was at Palazzo Strozzi for a special workshop about art. And once again I was really impressed from this “museum” that has sooo much to offer.

A bit of history

Palazzo Strozzi dates back to the Renaissance and is located in the heart of Florence, in between the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. It was the main and noble residence of the powerful Strozzi family, that wanted a bigger and more splendid palace than the Medici’s one.

The building reflects the perfect Renaissance style and has been property of the family until 1937. In 1999 it became part of the Italian State heritage and since WWII has become one of the most important exhibition areas in Florence.

Exhibits and activities

Palazzo Strozzi is one of the most important exhibit areas in Florence and hosted incredible shows such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Gustav Klimt, Botticelli and Leon Battista Alberti and the last called The Springtime of the Renaissance.

Each art exhibit is unique and features special set-ups, as well as artworks coming from major museums and private collections worldwide. In addition Palazzo Strozzi offers several activities for a complete experience, such as families activities, guided tours and special events.

If you’re a family you can have a special discounted ticket, an activity backpack and special workshops for you and your kids. (I can’t wait for my little son to be old enough!) If you’re older than toddlers you still have your activity backpack for drawing and you can attend interesting workshops such as #parliamodarte or talking of art and Please touch tour to have a different and fresh approach to art.

Contemporary art

The palazzo hosts also interesting contemporary art exhibits thanks to Strozzina center. As well as for the main exhibits there are several activities planned and special openings. One of them is the Thursday Squared when you can free you imagination with special creative programs.

In addition Palazzo Strozzi is a great location for aperitivito!
