Florence Notte Bianca on April 30th

The countdown started, the Notte Bianca 2012 will be this Monday on April 30th!


The Notte Bianca is literally the “white night of Florence”, i.e. a sleepless night for the entire city. Lots of events will animate the night until the next morning, when at 6 o’clock you can have breakfast with Florence Major Matteo Renzi in Palazzo Vecchio. And everything will start at 6 pm in Piazza Santa Croce with the concerts of 600 hundreds children singing “The Knight of the Roses” by Strauss.

The leitmotif will be the white. All the artists, the attractions and the people will be dressed in total white, even the major will be dressed in white! And white will be all the bridges in Florence, lighted up by white lanterns, while Piazza della Signoria will be decorated with 40.000 white balloons. In Piazza della Calza a giant whale will be made.

All Civic Museums will be open until late night and free. The Uffizi Gallery will be open from 7pm to 12am. Inside Palazzo Pitti there will be a big pic-nic for anyone. In Piazza Strozzi you can eat while watching free movies and participate to the workshop of make-up, hair styling and dressind up thanks to Polimoda and Odeon cinema.

There will be music in every part of the city. In Piazza San Firenze several musicians will play from the dismissed Palazzo San Firenze. In the Duomo there will play the Maggio Musicale orchestra directed by Zubin Mehta. In Piazza della Repubblica you can listen at rock music, while in Largo Annigoni you can dance “liscio” music.


All the events will end at 6 am in Palazzo Vecchio, where Florence major Matteo Renzi will wait you for breakfast. All buses will run all right including the Tramvia. I’ll see you there!
