Last weekend I discovered a really unconventional and funny tour in Tuscany: 500 Touring Club tours in Florence surroundings. What a nice tour!
Florence surroundings on a 500 vintage car
The 500 Touring Club is a family-run business organizing tours in Florence surroundings and in Tuscany on board of vintage 500 Fiat cars. Each car dates back to the 60s, it’s perfectly working and has a lovely name, such as Olivia, my green 500 Fiat car that appeared in the film about Calcio Storico!
Each tour drives you through unconventional Tuscany and includes wine and food. The itineraries chosen are really off the beaten paths, driving through Chianti and Florentine hills showing you the real side of these places. For example the one I took, Wine-Tasting Tour drove us to Chiocchio, a small village outside Florence in the Chianti Classico area and includes two main stops on your way: one looking at the Chianti vineyards with an introduction to Italian wine and another to an olive grove with a lesson about olive oil.
What I liked about the tour is that you drive to unknown places, along narrow countryside hills giving you the real taste of Tuscany. Then the tour ends at the Renaissance Villa le PIazzole (that is also your start point) with a nice lunch with Tuscan products and good wines to taste produced by the farm inside the Villa. So you don’t have to worry about drinking and then driving because the tasting is at the end of your tour and you can enjoy both with no worries.
500 Touring Club is run by Andrea and Giuseppe and their little girl Nina. Tours run almost every day and offer several tours such as the pic-nic tour, wine-making tour and the classic Chianti tour. You’ll drive your 500 Fiat car, after a quick driving lesson with basics and really enjoy a bit of the real Tuscany! For more information have a look at the official site of 500 Touring Club and let me know what you think!
Thanks to my friend Lili photographer for these great pictures!
