Weekend Events in Tuscany from October 5th to 7th

Autumn has just started and lots of great events are back! Let’s have a look together at the best event in Tuscany for this first weekend of October!

Food Festivals and Wine Fairs

Autumn means good food in Tuscany and we start with the Harvest Festival in Casole d’Elsa on Saturday and Sunday with wine tastings in the wine cellars. In Dicomano in Mugello there is the Fair of Grape and Chestnut with food tastings, arts&crafts market and the costume pageant with the Grape’s cart. In Certaldo there is Boccaccesca, important fair for great food and wine.

In Montescudaio there is the Wine Fair where you can taste excellent wines and good local food. If you go there you can meet my friend Paola, the personal wine shopper of Tuscany. In Cinigiano, Maremma, there is the Festa dell’Uva going on for all the weekend. On Sunday at 3pm the allegorical carts go along the streets of the town.

In Palazzuolo sul Senio and in Marradi there is the Chestnut Festival, where you can taste this excellent product of Mugello, while in Bagnolo there is the Amiatino mushroom festival, where you can taste this particular mushroom.

Markets and Fairs

In Pisa there is Pisa Colleziona 2012, a large fair of collectibles such as stamps, postcards, coins, books and much more at the Expo area of Ospedaletto.Il Lucca there is Artetica a great market of natural and organic artefacts and objects of any kind sold by 100 selected artisans. In Firenzuola on Sunday there is the market of stone artefacts.

In Piazza Santissima Annunziata in Florence there is the International fair of Ceramics, where you can find incredible pieces made of terracotta from international artisans and artists. In Florence there is also the Flower Exhibit and Market at the Orticoltura Gardens.

In Arezzo there is the large antiques fair in Piazza Grande with 400 exhibitors, as well as in Empoli where there is the antiques market. Other antiques markets are in Fiesole, Montalcino, San Giuliano Terme, Pontremoli, Scarperia and Pietrasanta.

Other Events

In Gaiole in Chianti there is the Eroica, a spectacular cycling race through the white streets of Chianti. It’s an event for big old boys, on big old bikes riding for 200 kilometers as we used to do at the beginning of the past century.
