Tuscany Weekend Events from July 20th to 22nd

 

After the busy weekend of Mercantia and Monteriggioni Medieval Festival, here it comes another weekend with several events in Tuscany! Let’s have a look at main events!

Antiques and local Markets

In San Gimignano there is the antiques market in Piazza delle Erbe all day long on Sunday. In Florence at Fortezza da Basso there will be a large antiques and collectibles market both on Saturday and Sunday. In Certaldo on Sunday Morning there Fra’ Cipolla Market, where you can buy fresh and organic food produced by local farmers.

Festivals

On Saturday and Sunday there are the official trials of Giostra dell’Orso, medieval joust in Pistoia that will be held on July 25th. On Saturday night from 7pm  in Chiusi della Verna there is the medieval food fair “Alla Corte del Conte“, where you can taste traditional food enjoying medieval atmosphere.

On Sunday in Chiusi della Verna there will be the historical re-enactment of the Donation of La Verna to Saint Francis of Assisi due to the Count of Orlando Catani and happened in 1214. There will be flag-throwers show and a colorful costume pageant.

Other events

In Castelnuovo Berardenga there is Sunday in Chianti, guided tours to the surroundings. Then for three days three different marching bands will play marching along via Francigena departing from San Gimignano, Buonconvento and Bagno Vignoni in Valdorcia. At Castello di Poggio alle Mura in Montalcino Jazz&Wine where you can listen to great jazz music while drinking excellent wine.
