Tuscany has been the set for thousands of films in any language and from every country. Just two weeks ago a famous Indian film director was shooting in Certaldo. Or think about the Twilight Saga, the Gladiator, a Window with a View and so on!

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the set of the new webseries The Scapethat is 100% Tuscan and it’s been shooting in Mugello.

The Story

The Scape is a sci-fiction thriller webseries that has been filming in Mugello, just few kilometers from my house immersed in the green woods over looking Bilancino Lake. It’s a story about mysterious disappearances, with lots of drama and suspense. It goes back and fort in time, connecting with several stories about other mysterious disappearances all around the world.

Think about the Tuscany winter, a lonely house immersed in the woods and nine people forced to live together while a mysterious entity is watching them. Then think about 1984 by Georgle Orwell and the Decameron by Boccaccio, take a bit of the famous TV series Lost, mix everything together. This is going to be The Scape!

Credits and Cast

What I like about this project is that it’s a low budget film made by young talented experts from Tuscany. About 40 people who decided to invest their time, resources, talent and skills into the Scape. Story, screenplay and film direction are by Gabriele Arata, owner of the Florentine communication agency Disequilibrium, together with Lorenzo Bittini, film producer.

Part of the project are Essi Girano, Florentine Cultural and Cinematographic Association organizing also some film festivals, and several young actors and actresses coming both from theater and film industry such as Eleonora Cappelletti, who plays Sarah, and Iacopo Braca playing Manuel. Then there are Alessio Alloi (Stephan), Niccolò Arcangeli (Gabriel), Paola Checchucci (Anghela), Alessio Martinoli (Lukas), Filippo Paolasini (Ivan), Vittoria Sammuri (Lara) and Anna Serena(Eleonor).
