Florens 2012 is coming!

A week of special events and great artworks for the Cultural and Environmental Heritage Week in Florence from November 3rd to 11th, that will transform the city into the international capital of Cultural Heritage. I’m going to be a local blogger and you can follow me through the best events. But let’s have a look at the main attractions!

Main attractions for Florens2012

In Piazza Santa Croce the Italian artist Mimmo Paladino will create a giant Crox made out of huge blocks of white marble, right in front of Santa Croce Church.

In Piazza San Giovanni, in front of the Duomo, there will be placed 70 centuries-old olive trees to create a urban olive grove, evoking also the garden of Gethsemane. Inside Saint John Baptistery will be displayed for the first time all together the three Crucifix by Brunelleschi, Donatello and Michelangelo.

God Save the great wine capitals

Wine tastings of international wines coming from all round the world from 7pm to 10.30pm at Hotel Bernini Palace on November 6th.

Florence Food Biennial Festival

A large festival to promote and show the local products from wine to beer, from fruit to vegetables and so on. The festival will go on from November 3rd to 18th in restaurants and other special locations with tastings and other events.

In Piazza della Repubblica from November 9th to 11th the market of Tuscany excellences for taste and arts and crafts. In the former tribunal in Piazza San Firenze Sweet temptations, wine and chocolate tastings. Glass for tastings all wines 5 euro.

And the former tribunal in Piazza San Firenze will also host a special market with products from Mugello on Friday 16th from 10am to 10pm, and on November 10th and 11th the Florence Wine Event, with wine tastings. The glass and 10 tastings cost 10 euro per person.
