Florence is quite a big city and has several street markets going on from Monday to Sunday in different areas of the city.

Florence city center

The most famous market in Florence is definitely the San Lorenzo Market. It takes place every day from 10 am to 8 pm in the streets next to the beautiful Church of San Lorenzo. The market is famous for leather products. But here you can find lots of different stuff such as cashmere, typical Florentine gifts, jewelery, clothings, shoes and much much more. In genera the San Lorenzo Market is the perfect place to buy souvenirs for you and your family.


Then there is the Cascine Street Market. It takes place just on Tuesday at the Cascine Park on the northern part of Florence form 8 am to 1 pm. This is a large weekly market where you can find almost everything. It’s a typical street market selling women’s, men’s and kids’ apparel, shoes, accessories, home furniture and other products. In addition there are fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, bread and flowers.This market is also held on special day such as on 4 Sundays before Christmas and on 4 Sundays before Easter.

Another unmissable market is the nice Sant’Ambrogio Market. It takes place from Monday to Saturday in Piazza Ghiberti, about 10 minutes from the Duomo, from 8 am to 1 pm. This is the typical local market and you’ll meet lots of Florentine people. Every day there are different sellers and you can buy almost everything, such as women’s, men’s and kids’ clothing, shoes, and much more. You can also find local and organic products, such as vegetables, fruits, bread and so on.

Also the daily Market of Santo Spirito deserves to be visited. It’s smaller than the others but it’s a typical street market, very popular between Florentine people. It runs from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. Sellers are different everyday and as other markets, here you can find almost everything, including fresh and organic food.

Florence city, markets outside the city center

Almost every area in Florence has its own market. Some of them are remarkable and you can experience a bit of Florentine life visiting them, especially if you stay in the area. These markets take place generally from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.

The Market of Campo Marte takes place next to Florence Stadium. It’s small local market where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, clothing and other accessories.

The Market of Cure is held on Piazza delle Cure and is a nice street market. Here you can find clothings, accessories and of course fresh food.

The Market of Piazza Dalmazia is always very busy. It’s located in the area of Careggi, not far from the Rifredi train station. It offers fresh food, clothing, accessories and much more.

The Market of Galluzzo, is held on the main square of this small village in the Florence area. As the others offers clothings, accessories and fresh products.

    I love this picture! I actually just pinned it on Pinterest and someone already repinned it. 😉 It is pretty amazing the quality of food sold at some of these markets. When I have time I try to go and buy something special for dinner.
