This is the last weekend in May and hopefully the weather will be nice and sunny. It is a busy weekend with lots of events all around the region.

In Florence started on May 23rd the third Firenze Gelato Festival, that is an international festival of ice-cream where you can taste the gelato ever, as well as learning how to make it.

Starts this weekend Chianti Classico è 2012, important fair celebrating Chianti Classico wine together with this beautiful region. Lots of events in the main towns in chianti going on until June 3rd. Wine and food tastings.

On this weekend there also several medieval festivals all around. In Castiglion Fiorentino near Arezzo, there is the Medieval Festival Biancoazzurro, re-enactment of an ancient fair with jugglers, musicians, flag throwers and much more. In Calcinaia near Pisa there is the Santa Ubaldesca Fair celebrating the city’s patron with a medieval re-enactment and a holy procession. In Barberino Val d’Elsa there is Memoriae et historiae Semifonte, that will bring back this enchanting hamlet to the Middle Ages with musicians, dancers, working artisans and food, arts and crafts market. In Aulla in Garfagnana there will be a medieval festival with arts and craft market, musicians and acrobats. Last but not least the famous Medieval Festival in Malmantile near Florence, that has more than 150 figures acting as they used to be in 1400.

In San Gimignano on Sunday there is “The collector’s corner” where you can find antiques and collectibles. In Viareggio on Saturday and Sunday there is a large antiques market, as well as  in Villafranca in Lunigiana just on Sunday.

In Scarperia in Mugello there is the Tortello Food Festival, while in Fiesole there is the Florentine Steak Festival and in San Casciano dei Bagni near Siena there is the Pici Food Festival. In Vicopisano there is the Slug Food Festival and in Firenzuola the Prugnolo Food Festival.

If this is not enough you can take a free bike tour to Fiesole surroundings or a guided tour to Monteriggioni and its surroundings.
