This weekend in Pisa is going to be the sweetest of the year thanks to DolcementePisa this Saturday and Sunday at Stazione Leopolda.

What’s hot at DolcementePisa?

Guided Tastings – both Saturday and Sunday there will be plenty of tastings. Among them “Chocolate” on Saturday afternoon in Sala Fondente, where you will taste 11 different chocolate types made by famous master chocolate makers such as dark chocolate with jasmine and white chocolate and caramel.  On Sunday afternoon there is “Brividi aromatici” to discover the taste of spice ice-cream by the local ice-cream shop Gelateria de’ Coltelli.

Workshops – a rich program of workshops for food lovers. On Saturday morning “Spices beyond boundaries” to learn how to mix spices up while cooking (also for children). On Sunday afternoon an interesting workshop to learn how to prepare three cakes with spices used when Pisa was a Maritime Republic (from 11th century to 1406).

Juniors – special attention is dedicated to children with dedicated activities for the entire event. On Saturday afternoon “What’s saffron looks like?” to have some fun using saffron as natural color for body paint and on Sunday afternoon listen to the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel in a shadow play.

Guided tours and shows – don’t miss the “lancio del Panforte“, a traditional Sienese dessert thrown by real masters of this peculiar sport! Another not-to-be-missed is “Sweet five senses” a guided tour through Pisa to experience the medieval city throughout your five senses. The tour starts from Stazione Leopolda at 4pm.

Dolcemente Tè – if you love tea and the English tea time, this place is for you. Muffins, pies, layer cakes, cupcakes and other delicious tea companion will be there for you tea break.

DolcementePisa opens Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am to 8pm and entrance costs 3€ per person (children under 12 years old are free). You can get a combined ticket for the chocolate fair + the exhibit “Angels by Mitoraj” in Piazza dei Miracoli + Amedeo Modigliani at Palazzo Blu for 12€ (strongly recommended). I suggest you vist the official website of DolcementePisa to check the rich program, since there is too much to do!
