Tuscany Weekend Events on August 23rd to 25th

This weekend I’m going to celebrate my birthday touring Maremma, but there are lots of events all around Tuscany. Let’s have a look!

Medieval Festivals and Historical Re-Enactment

In Vicchio in the green Mugello, there is the medieval Festival Vicchio 1529, commemorating the loyalty to Florentine Republic. The festival is Saturday and Sunday and there is the Renaissance market, the military camp and the costume pageant with Florence flag-throwers and Corteo Storico.

In Pontremoli there is Medievalis, medieval re-enactment of the concession by Federico II to be a free city happened in 1226. A rich program of events such as medieval market, flag-throwers show, street performers, costume pageant and much more.

In Volterra there is the second appointment with the medieval festival Volterra AD 1398. In Pescia start Sunday the celebrations for the Palio della Città di Pescia, with a medieval market and other events.

Markets and Fairs

In Molino di Casole d’Elsa there is the Alberaia farmers’ fair with animals and machines on Saturday and Sunday. In Bibbona there is the Chianina fair, with the chianina cows market and local food, wine and olive oil. It goes on until Sunday. On Sunday in Lastra a Signa the Mezzagosto farmers’ fair with farmers animals, food and several events.

In Cortona starts Saturday the important Antiques fair and market going on until September 9th. On Saturday and Sunday in Viareggio the antiques market, as well as in San Gimignano and Scarperia on Sunday. The antiques market there is also in Florence in Piazza dei Ciompi, in Villafranca Lunigiana and in Cecina. In Pitigliano until Sunday the large antiques and arts&craft market (I’ll be there!)
