Tuscany July Events

Wow, this is too much – and I’m not only talking about the heat. The abundance of choice is simply overwhelming this July! Are we going to go shopping till we’re dropping? Visiting all the Sagre until we’ll be exploding or are we going to be rockin’and rollin’ at the various fantastic music festivals this month? I’d suggest trying to keep your head cool and just choose whatever appeals to you most out of all these wonderful events in Tuscany this July. Andiamo! Let’s go!

First things first; there are going to be sales all over Italy from July 4th. So head to your favourite Tuscan town and finally buy all those gorgeous tops or trousers that you’ve been staring at for months. Florence is a great place for shopping since you have loads of shops to choose from. Fancy, chique, sportive, low-budget; you can find it all!

Theatre show in English

Feel like showing off your new garments right away? Close off your shopping spree with a very entertaining and interesting theatre show called the Medici Dynasty Show. They perform five times a week at 7 pm and the best thing is that all shows are in English. You’ll learn loads about the Medici family in an hour-long ‘infotainment’ theatre show. Its location, the San Giovannino dei Padri Scolopi Library (piazza San Lorenzo, n. 6) is amazing and already worth the €29,- you pay for your ticket. (special prices for students and children under 12 are free). More info on their website.

Tuscan town tours

Do you go crazy about cute Tuscan towns but just don’t know where to go? The people from local tour operator Arianna and Friends organize free guided walking tours in Chianni on Monday, in Peccioli on Tuesday and in Terricciola on Wednesday. The morning tours show you the tiny lanes and small squares in town and gives a detailed explanation of local art, history and habits. See their website for more info.

Music festivals

You definitely don’t want to miss the Lucca Summer Festival held in Piazza Napoleone in Lucca during the month of July. It will be hosting huge names such as John Legend, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Snoop Dogg… you get the picture. More info on the website. Pistoia Blues will get you anything but the blues thanks to Dream Theatre, Hozier, Counting Crows, The Darkness, Santana, Sting, and many more. More info here.

Food festivals

During all July weekends Pozzolatico (Impruneta) will organize the Sagra della Bistecca con Fungo Porcino. Meat and mushrooms: yummy! There’ll be enough parking space close to the venue surrounded by loads of nature. Prefer fish? Then make sure you get a taste of the Sagra del Pesce in Torba, commune of Capalbio for an entire week from 20 to 26 July. The stands open their shutters at 7:30 at the Circolo La Torbiera, to be found on the Via Aurelia at kilometer 135. Since July is maybe the fullest month sagra-wise, we’ve decided to share this link with you so that you can select your own favourite food festival. They go from frog, snail, meat to pasta sagre, so dig in and buon appetito!

Cowboys galore

Head to Pomonte from 10 to 12 July to see some Butteri, Tuscan cowboys, show off their stuff. The event named Sbraciata del Buttero will be all about Tuscan cowboy lifestyle and you’ll get to taste some of their wonderful meat – grilled meat of course.

Have a sizzling hot July!
